Two of Sunday's starters have been named a day early, and NHL.com's projections are in for the two afternoon games. Daylight saving time ends in the US overnight, so all times are Eastern Standard Time.

Oilers at Rangers, 6 p.m. ET

Oilers: Matt Tomkins, confirmed. "Matt Tomkins is set to make his first start for the Oilers tomorrow night at the Rangers, per coach Mike Babcock," AP hockey writer Stephen Whyno posted after Saturday's game. It's the second night of a back-to-back for Edmonton, and Tristan Jarry gets the night off after making 18 saves in a 4-0 win at the Islanders, his second shutout in a row.

Rangers: not announced. James Reimer started Monday's 6-3 loss to Los Angeles and was relieved by Dylan Garand. NHL.com's status report says Joonas Korpisalo practiced Friday for the first time this regular season.

Senators at Ducks, 8 p.m. ET

Ducks: Laurent Brossoit, confirmed. "Laurent Brossoit will start for the Anaheim Ducks tomorrow against the Ottawa Senators," Sporting Tribune Ducks reporter Zach Cavanagh posted, adding that neither Lukas Dostal nor Ville Husso is injured. He quoted coach Joel Quenneville: "It's an opportunity."

Senators: not announced. Ottawa is also on a back-to-back. Samuel Ersson started Saturday's game at San Jose.

NHL.com projections for the afternoon games

These are projections, not announcements, from NHL.com's projected lineups:

  • Jets at Hurricanes, 1 p.m. ET. Stuart Skinner for Winnipeg, with Nico Daws second, and Pyotr Kochetkov for Carolina, with Brandon Bussi second. The Jets did not practice Saturday.
  • Wild at Capitals, 3:30 p.m. ET. Jesper Wallstedt for Minnesota, with Calvin Pickard second, and Logan Thompson for Washington, with Charlie Lindgren second.

Still waiting

NHL.com had not posted projections for Mammoth at Flyers (4 p.m. ET) at our 5:15 p.m. ET check, and neither team has named a goalie. We'll update the Nov. 1 board as morning-skate reports come in. Saturday's afternoon showed how often projections change: six of 12 starters weren't the projected goalie, as our afternoon recap shows. Nothing here is betting advice.
