Dan Vladar Starts for the Flyers Against Columbus, With a Back-to-Back in Washington Next

Flyers: Dan Vladar, confirmed. Coach Rick Tocchet said after Tuesday's morning skate that Vladar will start against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Xfinity Mobile Arena (7 p.m. ET), PHLY Sports' Charlie O'Connor reported. The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jackie Spiegel also reported that Tocchet named Vladar.

Blue Jackets: Cam Talbot, confirmed. Columbus reporter Dave Maetzold, relaying coach Rick Bowness's morning update, reported that Talbot gets a second straight start after Saturday's game against Vegas. NHL.com's projected lineup also lists him first. Every Tuesday starter is on the Oct. 27 board.

How Philadelphia has split the net

Philadelphia has rotated Vladar and Joseph Woll closely this season. In 13 games, Woll has started seven and Vladar six, according to NHL.com game logs. Only once has the same goalie started two games in a row: Woll on Oct. 1 and Oct. 3. Woll started Saturday’s 5-4 home loss to Anaheim, so Tuesday is Vladar's turn in that pattern.

• Vladar: 2-3-1, .900 save percentage, 3.15 GAA. His season started rough (15 goals allowed on 105 shots across his first three starts), but in his last three starts, against Seattle, Ottawa and Buffalo, he has allowed four goals on 85 shots.
• Woll: 1-4-2, .904 save percentage, 2.99 GAA.

Wednesday at Washington: not announced

The Flyers visit the Capitals on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. ET), the second half of a back-to-back, per the team schedule. Tocchet has not named a starter for that game. Based on the rotation above, Woll would be next, but that is our reading of the pattern, not a team announcement, and the Wednesday board lists the Flyers as unconfirmed until someone reports it. After Washington, Philadelphia does not play again until it hosts Utah on Sunday, Nov. 1.
